The museum is located in a two-story stone house, built in the first third of the 19th century. The exhibition includes manuscripts, photographs, editions of the writer's works, sketches of city life, the types, the Urals, St. Petersburg, household items of the 19th century.
The memorial part of the exhibition introduces visitors to the postal service of the 19th century, with the traditions and customs of the Russian people, and is a unique monument of Russian road of life.

The basis has served partially restored architectural and spatial environment of the street and postal monastery for this part of the exhibition, which is a complex of buildings: the house, outbuildings (stables, coach house, forge), courtyard, paved with Ural granite and bordered by a fence with a wrought-iron grilles, gates, entrance gates, black and white milestones. The museum operates a smithy.
