  1. Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery. .
    It is the oldest monastery in Yaroslavl. For the first time, the monastery was mentioned in chronicles in 1186, in the first half of the 13th century the monastery receives the patronage of duke Konstantin of Yaroslavl. Here in the late 18 century in the library the only surviving copy of "Slovo o polku Igoreve" was discovered. Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery was often visited by Ivan the Terrible and his son Feodor. In 1216 — 1224 in the monastery Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral was built. The architectural shape of the Cathedral resemble the forms of the temples of the Moscow Kremlin. This is now the oldest building in Yaroslavl. And its frescoes are the oldest monuments and one of the two murals in Russia, preserved from the era of Ivan the Terrible
  2. Church Of Ilya the Prophet.
    Church of Ilya the Prophet is considered a gem of ancient architecture attractions of Yaroslavl. The temple began to be built in the year 1647. Extraordinarily beautiful temple-strict and solemn temple with five widely-spaced vertices. Its composition is complemented by two white tower is a Bell Tower and the chapel of the Deposition. The Church is famous for its interior decoration. The walls, vaults, all filled with paintings, which were completed in 1680-1681, also Church is adorned with frescoes. The pediment on the West porch, open on the square, further decorated with fresco of crucifixion.
  3. Uspensky Cathedral.
    This is a unique architectural ornament and heritage of Yaroslavl, the first cathedral in honor of the assumption of Bogoroditsa. The temple was erected in 1215. The founder of the Uspenskiy Cathedral in Yaroslavl was duke Konstantin Vsevolodovich. In 1501, his wrecked fire, and then were found relics of princes Konstantin and basil. Now, the relics are the main sanctuary of the Cathedral. The history of the Church is very tragic, it had been rebuilt 4 times. After 1937 a cathedral was blown up and in its place Park was planted, only in 2010 year it had been rebuilt to the 1000 anniversary of city. Now it is an architectural dominant of the Yaroslavl Center.
  4. Iohanna Predtechi Church.
    This is an outstanding monument of architecture, which was constructed at the West of Yaroslavl in 1671-87. The temple is the largest in Yaroslavl and absorbs all the main achievements of the Yaroslavl architects 17 century. Church is the pinnacle of the Yaroslavl architecture of the 17th century monument of world importance, UNESCO recommend it for tourists
  5. Chapel Kazanskoy Bogomateri.
    Chapel is situated on the embankment of the Kotorosl River, in front of the gate of Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery. The Chapel is a monument to the militant people in 1612, when under the leadership of Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky fighters with the icon of the Kazan Mother of God freed Russia from poles. In the Chapel there is the image icon of Kazan Mother of God in the form of stained glass and the inside of the plate are carved the words "people's militia 1612 year from grateful descendants. The chapel appears on the banknote in 1000 rubles.
  6. Museum of the history of Yaroslavl.
    It was opened in 1998 at the initiative of Mayor Volonchunas. For the exhibits was given an old two-story mansion, built in the late 19 century. The Museum's exhibition space is filled with exhibits that demonstrate the value of cities throughout the country and the role of man in the history of the city. The museum displays archaeological finds, icons with the portraits of ancient princes, a collection of antique weapons, coins, household items, photographs, on the city's public figures, politicians, cultural workers, and much more.
