Who was in Moscow, knows Russia.

Karamzin N.

The first drafts of this hi-rise business district knows as “Moscow City” saw the light of day in 1992: that same year the Moscow government first conceived the project. The Moscow IBC, initially planned as an analogue of Paris’ La Défense and London's Canary Wharf, is, in fact, still under development.

The district was meant to become the financial and political center of the capital, serving as headquarters for large companies and legislative authorities. But in1994 and due to a lack of investments, the construction of got frozen for almost ten years. Even when the construction works restarted, many projects had to be canceled and changed on the fly.

In September of 1997, when the capital was celebrating its 850th anniversary, the Bridge "Bagration" became the first object of the "Moscow City" to become open to the public. We’re speaking about Russia's only pedestrian bridge, within which visitors will find shops, restaurants and quite a few places of entertainment. The "Bagration" Bridge is 217 meters long, 16 meters wide and its height is above the Moscow River – about 14 meters. Each of the towers of this architectural piece was given a name to make it easier to navigate within it.

At the moment the construction of several skyscrapers such as Naberezhnaya Tower, Capital City, North Tower, and Tower 2000 has been completed. The interiors of Capital City are something not to be missed: they have been decorated by Europe’s leading designers and are abundant in natural materials and modern sculpture. Perhaps the most spectacular is the Federation Tower: the tallest high-rise building in Europe with a record height of 268 meters. This masterpiece consists of two buildings – the East and West towers, connected by a 500-meter long mast, which moves inside a panoramic elevator. The top of the tower counts with an amazing viewing platform, allowing visitors to admire Moscow from different heights.
